'West End Girls'

Using vintage postcards and photographs from the turn of the last Century (1900) of actresses who would have performed on many a West End stage this three-dimensional collage really needs to be seen 'in the flesh'. Original sheet music, an early map of the West End and an original early 20th Century awards certificate appear in this London theatre lover's collage which I thoroughly enjoyed making.

Beautifully deep framed in black wood and glass.

46.2 x 63.5 x 4.5 cm (framed) / 59.5 x 42 cm (unframed) / 44.5 x 25 cm (actual image size)

'Devonarium'

Devon has always been my favourite county by far and having lived there for almost 15 years I have grown to love it more and more. This piece, which is part collage part assemblage, graphically displays 15 places of interest in South Devon which other lovers of the county will probably know well. Acrylic on canvas with hand cut blocks and elements from an original 1946, linen-backed Ordnance Survey map (Sheet 188).

The canvas measures 30 x 30 x 6.7 cm and is ready to hang.

Shipping to the UK (only) and will be dispatched within 24 hours. For shipping worldwide please email for a quotation.

The main places included in this three-dimensional collage are Salcombe, Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Dittisham, Brixham, Bigbury on Sea, Burgh Island, Slapton, Bolt Head, Bolt Tail, Ashburton, Buckland in the Moor, Buckfastleigh and Newton Abbot.

The work is signed along the right-hand edge.

'Ahead of the Game #3'

This is the third in my 'Ahead of the Game' series, a 3-dimensional framed 'collage' piece which is really quite striking 'in the flesh'. Following several requests this is now a smaller version of the first two in the series this time having 175 exposed coloured dots on 90 x 15mm square cubes to form a mesmerising matrix. The little head is an antique bisque dolls head from Germany which are now very hard to find and quite expensive relative to their size!

This artwork is beautifully deep box-framed in black wood.

'Once in a Blue Moon' #3

The first 'Once in a Blue Moon' is now with a collector in Kent, UK and #2 is displayed in a consultant's surgery in Hannover, Germany. The buyer of #1 has since commissioned and received the remainder of the triptych, 'Sunrise' and 'Middle Earth' having orange and green accent spheres respectively.

This three-dimensional collage was an exercise in precision simplicity. I wanted to create a very simple yet absolutely impactual piece which could (if required) be reproduced in different colours, either to synchronise with a particular decor or to be displayed in a group of two or more pieces using different 'accent' colours.

The framework is precision laser cut from 5mm Black Perspex which is lifted from the background to appear floating. The 38mm spheres are perfectly evenly spaced and the whole beautifully matted and deep framed in black wood. The piece is very chunky and graphic and really does look so much better in real life. 'Once in a Blue Moon #4' is available by commission in any other accent colour so please email me if you have  a particular combination in mind.

'Relatively Speaking'

Pondering on the relationship between art and science I discovered that one of the greatest scientists ever, Albert Einstein, made the quotation "The greatest scientists are artists as well". This quote inspired my piece 'Relatively Speaking' which explores the stark contrast between the abstract without rules and the formality of science with its strict laws.

Using acrylics, dot dice, a lens from an antique camera, part of a page from a 100 year old dictionary, the piece incorporates a mixed-media panel which was part of a Victorian 'Dark Slide' used in early photography and made of Honduran mahogany.

This artwork is beautifully deep box-framed in black wood.
